The project involves the establishment of a multipurpose grinding mill that adds value to dry cassava, millet, sorghum, and sweet potatoes, producing flour for each, which is used to make “Atap”, a daily meal for 99% of families. A small fee of 100 UGX is charged per kilogram of dry cassava and sweet potatoes, and 200 UGX per kilogram of dry millet and sorghum, respectively. The operational costs of the project, such as fuel (diesel) for running the engine, routine repairs & maintenance, and monthly salary for the Mill Operator, are covered by profits generated, and the balance is used for buying and distributing at no cost scholastic materials (books, pens, pencils, rubbers etc) to 30 needy school going children in each term.
